Oxford University Press has recently published the book ‘Architects of the Euro. Intellectuals in the making of European Monetary Union’ which includes a chapter written by Dr Elena Danescu.

After more than ten years of fruitful cooperation between the two institutions, the CVCE joined the University of Luxembourg on 1 July 2016.

On 8–9 July 2016, Dr Susana Muñoz took part in the Annual Conference of the Oral History Society (OHS) at the University of Roehampton in London.

The interdisciplinary research institute DynamE — Dynamiques européennes at the University of Strasbourg has recently published a new issue of its Cahiers FARE entitled 'Le couple franco-allemand vu par certains États tiers depuis 1963'.

We are pleased to announce that the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) will be joining the University of Luxembourg on 1 July 2016.

The third and final part of the interview with Viviane Reding, conducted by the CVCE, has recently been published.

During the DH Benelux 2016 conference, Dr Elena Danescu and Henriette Heimbach gave a presentation entitled ‘The Werner Committee and the debates on European economic and monetary integration’.

The annual Digital Humanities Benelux conference was held on 9 and 10 June 2016, organised by Dr Catherine Jones and Dr Lars Wieneke in cooperation with Prof. Andreas Fickers and Anita Lucchesi from the University of Luxembourg.

On 23 and 24 May 2016, Dr Catherine Jones, Daniele Guido and Ghislain Sillaume took part in the kick-off meeting for the Horizon 2020–funded project ‘CrossCult'

Dr Susana Muñoz was invited to take part in the 2016 Jean Monnet Cluster Meeting on the topic ‘A Union of Shared Values’, organised by the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency.

The last session of the seminar on European Union enlargements organised by the University of Luxembourg took place on 23 May 2016.

Jean Mischo, Honorary Minister Plenipotentiary and a former Luxembourg diplomat and Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union, passed away on 10 May 2016.

On 12 May 2016, in Luxembourg City, Elena Danescu and Marco Gabellini (CVCE) led a training seminar at the Luxembourg National Institute of Public Administration (INAP) on the topic ‘Luxembourg and the European integration process, 1945–2016’.

The CVCE and the University of Luxembourg are currently working together to organise the third DH Benelux conference. The conference will take place on 9–10 June 2016 at the City of Science in Belval, Luxembourg.

In connection with the ‘Pierre Werner and Europe’ research project and the ‘Oral history of European integration’ programme, Professor Fabrizio Saccomanni granted an interview to the CVCE on 19 April 2016.

The recording of the academic event entitled ‘Pierre Werner and Luxembourg: a vision of Europe’ has recently been published.

The third enlargement of the European Union, particularly the accession of Spain, was the subject of the seminar given by Dr Susana Muñoz on 11 April 2016 at the University of Luxembourg.

On 4 April 2016, Dr Susana Muñoz gave a presentation on the accession of Portugal at the University of Luxembourg.

Dr Susana Muñoz, took part in the workshop ‘The Future of a United Kingdom in the European Union’, organised by the University of Luxembourg’s Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.

On 14 March 2016, the CVCE took part in the closing session of the European project SMILE — Sharing Messina Ideal a Lesson for all Europe, which was held at the headquarters of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.

On 11 March 2016, the peer review committee for the ‘European integration studies’ collection met at the CVCE.

Marten Düring, a researcher in the CVCE’s Digital Humanities Lab, has joined forces with three colleagues to publish a handbook containing a series of papers on this topic, the first publication to consolidate existing knowledge on data collection and analysis techniques using historical social networks.

The peer review committee for the ‘European integration studies’ collection met on 10 March 2016 at the CVCE.

In connection with the ‘Pierre Werner and Europe’ research project and the ‘Oral history of European integration’ programme, the Professor Emeritus Niels Christoffer Thygesen granted an interview to the CVCE on 9 March 2016.

The interview with Robert Goebbels conducted by the CVCE in Luxembourg City has recently been published.

In connection with the ‘Pierre Werner and Europe’ research project, the CVCE, Robert Triffin International and the Pierre Werner Foundation, with the participation of PIE Peter Lang International Academic Publishers, organised an academic event entitled ‘Pierre Werner and Luxembourg: a vision of Europe’.

On 16 and 17 February, the CVCE hosted a two-day workshop which marked the start of the research project BLIZAAR — Hybrid Visualization of Dynamic Multilayer Graphs.

The CVCE, Robert Triffin International and the Pierre Werner Foundation, with the participation of PIE Peter Lang International Academic Publishers, are organising an academic event entitled ‘Pierre Werner and Luxembourg: a vision of Europe’.

On 4 February 2016, as part of the CVCE lecture series, Dr Donald A. Ritchie, Historian Emeritus of the United States Senate and a member of the CVCE’s Oral History Peer Review Committee, gave a lecture.

On 28 January 2016, Dr Susana Muñoz took part in a workshop on the financial history of Europe in connection with an oral history project led by eabh.

On 4 February 2016, a meeting of the peer review committee for the ‘Oral history of European integration’ collection was held at the CVCE.

The 3rd DH Benelux conference will take place on 9-10 June 2016, at the City-of-Science-Belval (Luxembourg), organised by the CVCE and the University of Luxembourg.

On 12 January 2016, the CVCE led a second training workshop at the Training Institute of the Ministry of Education (‘eduPôle’, based in Walferdange) entitled ‘Teaching about Europe: digital resources and tools’, aimed at teachers in Luxembourg.

On 1 and 2 September 2015, Frédéric Allemand spoke at the international conference ‘From Monetary Union to Banking Union, on the way to Capital Markets Union. New Opportunities for European Integration’, organised by the European Central Bank. The conference proceedings have now been published.

In connection with the ‘Pierre Werner and Europe’ research project and the ‘Oral history of European integration’ programme, Astrid Lulling gave a second interview to the CVCE on 5 January 2016.

On 7 and 14 December 2015, Dr Susana Muñoz, Head of European Integration Studies at the CVCE, spoke at the ‘Economic and social history of European integration’ seminar cycle at the University of Luxembourg.

The CVCE and the association Robert Triffin International (RTI) have recently signed a framework partnership agreement.

In connection with the activities held to mark the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Dr Susana Muñoz spoke at a round table on ‘The impact of the European Coal and Steel Community on Luxembourg and the European integration process’.
