In this interview excerpt, Jacques de Larosière, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 1978 to 1987, Governor of the Banque de France from 1987 to 1993 and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from 1993 to 1998, describes Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa’s European commitment, particularly when he was co-rapporteur for the Delors Committee (the Committee for the Study of Economic and Monetary Union set up after the Hanover European Council) from 1988 to 1989, then a member of the first Executive Board of the European Central Bank from 1998 to 2005.
