In 1971, the cartoonist Geisen illustrates the turnaround made by Harold Wilson, leader of the Labour Party, who, after having been one of the main supporters of the United Kingdom’s accession to the European Communities in 1967, then opposes the country’s participation in the European Economic Community (EEC) under the terms negotiated by the Conservative government of his successor, Edward Heath.
