Declaration of the Heads of State and Government of the Atlantic Alliance (Brussels, 11 January 1994)
Text At the meeting held on 11 January 1994 in Brussels, the Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) express their support for the development of a European Security and Defence Identity (ESDI). This involves the strengthening of the European pillar of the Alliance through Western European Union (WEU), which is being developed as the defence component of the European Union.
