Interview with Carlos María Bru Purón, President of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement from 1986 to 1996 and from 2004 to 2012, carried out by the Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance sur l’Europe (CVCE) on 13 January 2012 at his home in San Sebastián de los Reyes. The interview was conducted by Cristina Blanco Sío-López, a Researcher at the CVCE, and particularly focuses on the following subjects: the origins and development of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement in Franco’s Spain, the transition to democracy and Spain’s accession to the European Communities, the development of pro-European sentiment in Spain, the enlargement of the European Union, European federalism and the Spanish autonomous model, new technologies and participatory democracy in Europe, and Spain’s contribution to the European integration process.
