Letters from the French Ambassador to the WEU Secretary-General: Council meeting on the Middle East (11 and 12 February 1969)

Text
On 12 February 1969, the Secretary-General of Western European Union circulates two letters that it has received from the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom expressing France’s disagreement with the British proposal to convene an emergency meeting on the Middle East on 14 February. The Ambassador’s main arguments are that this matter has already been discussed at the ministerial meeting of 7 February and that France is maintaining close diplomatic contacts with the European states directly interested by the situation in the Mediterranean.
