Text On 6 May 1966, the tenth congress of the Socialist International is held in Stockholm. On that occasion, George Brown, British Minister for Economic Affairs, delivers a speech in which he describes the conditions which must be fulfilled so that the United Kingdom might join the European Economic Community (EEC).
