Telegram from Jean Chauvel on the recruitment of a nuclear expert by the ACA (6 April 1959)
Text In a telegram dated 6 April 1959, Jean Chauvel, French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, explains that the French Government believes the recruitment of a nuclear expert by the Agency for the Control of Armaments (ACA) to be unnecessary and premature. He emphasises that all the other delegations to the Council of Western European Union (WEU), particularly the British delegation, take the opposite view and believe that this measure is justified.
