Text On 27 June 1994, commenting on the outcome of the Corfu European Council, the German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung describes the clash between John Major, British Prime Minister, and the other Heads of State or Government of the Twelve on the question on the appointment of the future President of the European Commission to replace Jacques Delors.
