'The friendly understanding' from the Süddeutsche Zeitung (24 May 1971)
Text On 24 May 1971, German daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung welcomes the understanding that exists between British Prime Minister, Edward Heath, and French President, Georges Pompidou, which provides the necessary impetus for the removal of several obstacles to the United Kingdom's accession to the European Economic Community (EEC).
