Texte Le 21 mai 1947, Winston Churchill, leader du Parti Conservateur britannique, adresse une lettre manuscrite au Premier ministre britannique Clement Attlee dans laquelle il manifeste le soutien de son parti à l'indépendance de l'Inde et confirme sa volonté d'attribuer le statut de dominion aux nouveaux États issus de la partition de l'Inde.
