Video In this interview excerpt, Édouard Molitor, Luxembourg Ambassador to Vienna and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna from 1978 to 1989, discusses the consequences of the ‘Waldheim Affair’ on relations between Luxembourg and Austria. In 1986, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jacques F. Poos refused to congratulate Kurt Waldheim on his election as President of the Austrian Republic, preferring to wait for the results of investigations into Waldheim’s past in the Germany army during the Second World War.
