In this interview excerpt, Pierre Pescatore, a Luxembourg diplomat from 1947 to 1967 and a Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Communities from 1967 to 1985, describes his university career, during which he worked as a lecturer at the University of Liège and was appointed as a part-time professor in European Community law when the university set up a European institute. He also lectured in general legal theory at the Luxembourg University Centre, the Grand-Ducal Institute, the International Law Institute, the Royal Institute for International Relations in Brussels and the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg.
